Northside Townhomes

This design-build project is promoted as the ‘cure for suburbia.’ The Northside Townhomes offer the best of city living along with easy access to recreation and the beauty of nature. Designed as a contemporary interpretation of the traditional brownstone, the townhomes are constructed with a brick base and detailed stucco above. Each unit is stepped up Howard Street matching the slope of the hill towards downtown, and alternating roof forms are designed to animate the façade by providing an interesting rhythm along the hillside. These roof forms are a combination of flat and standing-seam sloped metal roofs. These new townhomes represent a unique opportunity for brownstone style residential living within the heart of an emerging Akron neighborhood and provide the opportunity for a new style of private residential home within an active, urban setting. Phase I was completed in 2010 and Phase II is beginning construction in mid-2016. Comprised of ten, two-bedroom apartment homes, Phase II follows the design language established in Phase I while having a distinctly different configuration on the interior. Each apartment has two floors, a private entrance, and a private garage below ample outdoor patio space.

This multi-family project met the design schedule of eight weeks and was on budget at bidding. Construction is estimated to be completed in early 2017.
