Madaline Park II
Architecture Firm of Record
Mota Design Group, Inc.
The Commons at Madaline Park II is a sixty-unit permanent supportive housing development on the northeast side of Akron, OH, one street from The Job Center of Summit County. It consists of a four story building built on a four-acre parcel of land and is the second phase of Madaline Park. It will house single adults who are chronically homeless and/or disabled. The target population includes the ‘hard-to-house’ homeless, many of whom have little or no income. Consistent housing is often unobtainable for this population due to past history, which often includes evictions, mental illness, addictions, and behavior problems.
The building will consist of sixty, one-bedroom units of approximately 545 square feet, which includes a full kitchen and large master bath and ample closet space. All units are accessible and the designed to meet the principals of universal design. In addition, the project is being designed to meet the strict Green Communities Standards (equivalent to LEED for Homes), and will provide an energy efficient, sustainable and healthy environment for its residents.
