DBA Akron
Architecture Firm of Record
Moses Architecture (brief existence, but proud project)
Seating 94 guests in just under 3,000 square feet, Dante Boccuzzi Akron, or DBA, is a modern restaurant, in a modern setting, right on the edge of downtown Akron. The restaurant showcases an elegant dining space, private dining room, great cocktails, a late night bar and a spacious, comfortable patio. The 200 seat (including dining patio) restaurant is a cutting edge design to match the quality and creativity of the menu by world renowned chef Dante Boccuzzi.
A shared love of rock and roll between the chef and co-owners sparked DBA’s one-of-a-kind design, from architectural elements down to the menu. During the afternoon, guests can enjoy an upscale meal in a funky, fresh setting. At night the space transforms into a swanky and unique experience for all the senses. The full theme comes into effect through a dazzling chef’s menu and electric design.
The restaurant design and branding were developed together by Mota Design Group, creating a complete atmosphere and dining experience. Several innovative design elements were created including a quartz bar with under-lit ice and color-changing urinals (yes, it does change color during use). Mota Design Group provided architectural services from conceptual design through construction administration as well as graphic design and branding services. This project was an AIA Akron Honorable Mention Award winner for Interior Design in 2015.
